⚽️ Format for U.S. Open Cup Announced

+ Dane Jacomen loaned to Westchester SC, Lyam Mackinnon signs with Orange County

West Chester United will have local company in the 2025 U.S. Open Cup and if they string three cupsets together a chance to play at Subaru Park in the Round of 32.

U.S. Soccer announced the format for the 2025 edition of the oldest U.S. soccer competition earlier this week. West Chester United will be among 96 teams competing for the cup. The first round will kick off March 18-20 with 32 games between amateur and professional sides.

The closest professional teams entering in the first round include Loudoun United, new USL League One side Westchester SC, Richmond Kickers and Hartford Athletic. Other amateur teams from the region in the competition include FC Motown, New Jersey Alliance, New York Shockers, NY Renegades and Long Island Rough Riders.

The Philadelphia Union return to the competition after a year hiatus and will host a Round of 32 match on either May 6 or 7. The Predators would need to win three matches to set up that local derby in Chester.

Dane Jacomen + Lyam Mackinnon on the Move

West Chester United alums Dane Jacomen and Lyam Mackinnon will both be playing with new teams in 2025. Jacomen has been loaned out to USL League One newcomer Westchester SC and Mackinnon, the USL League One Player of the Year in 2024, has signed on with USL Championship side Orange County SC.

Congratulations to Dane and Lyam and good luck this season.
